Senior Trade Development Officer
Senior Trade Development Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
- An officer at this level will be responsible for:
- Collecting, compiling and analyzing economic and trade related data; disseminating business information;
- Facilitating trade promotion activities, participating and organizing trade interactive forums and conducting business counseling;
- Training and providing extension service on trade matters, conducting surveys and mapping of various business activities;
- Vetting of Nawiri Fund applicants, sensitizing the business community on source of credit available to Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and compiling and analyzing data on recovery a loans owed to the Nawira Fund;
- Promoting entrepreneurial venture creation, facilitating the growth and development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)and participating in management of business information and solution center; In addition, the officer will be required to recover loans owed; maintain Nawiri books of account; participate in the management of business information and solution centers; implement trade related development projects; and mobilize the business community to participate in trade fairs and exhibitions.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
- Served in the grade of Trade Development Officer I for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics, International Trade/Business/Relations or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and
- Demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
Economist/ Statistician
Duties and Responsibilities
Work at this level will involve taking charge of a small functional area within the department or comparable area. Specifically, work at this level will entail:
- Economic planning;
- Coordination of sector/regional development plans;
- Review of development policy strategies, projects and programmes prepared by Economist II/Statistician II the statistical field, work at this level will be wide in scope and of more complex statistical analysis in nature, and will include supervising officers working under them.
Requirement of Appointment
For appointment to the grade of Economist I/Statistician I, an officer must have:
- Served in the grade of Economist II/Statistician II, for at least three years; or other comparable and relevant position in the Public Service.
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and
- Demonstrated professional ability, initiative and competence in organizing direct and executing work at this level.

Trade Development Officer II
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

- Facilitating trade promotion activities.
- Participating in the implementation of trade related development projects.

- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, International Trade/Relations or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in computer application from a recognized institution.

Micro And Small Enterprise Officer.
Job Description
The officer will be designated as Micro and Small Enterprise Officer in the department of Trade and Commerce within the County Public Service of the County Government of Trans Nzoia. Duties and Responsibilities This is the entry grade for Economist/Statistician cadre. An officer at this level will be responsible for a specific sector, location, service or activity.
Duties and Responsibilities at this level involve;
- Providing economic planning data, economic analysis and formulation of development strategies;
- Identification preparation and evaluation of development projects and programmes and monitoring of their implementation;
- Conducting feasibility studies, determining project viability and setting project priorities;
- Collection, collation and analysis of data relating to production and marketing of agriculture/ industrial products.
- Computerization and analysis of data; writing and submitting reports on specific assignments; and control and supervision of technical and other supporting staff. In the statistical field, duties will involve management of a specific economic sector or an area of statistical activity; drawing up survey questionnaires and setting up control procedures for receiving returns and taking the necessary action; collection, collation, computerization and analysis of data.
Requirements for Appointment
- For appointment to the grade of Economist II/Statistician II, a candidate must be in possession of;
- A minimum of upper second class honours degree in Economics, or Economics and Mathematics, or Economics and Statistics from a recognized university/institution; or
- A minimum of an upper second class honours degree in any of the subjects enumerated at (i) above with a bias towards Computer Science, Operations, Research, Survey Techniques and Demographic Techniques from a recognized university/institution;
or
- A minimum of an upper second class honours degree in statistics with appropriate specialization from a recognized university/institution.

Principal Co-operative Officer
Duties and Responsibility
- An officer at this level may be deployed as a subject matter specialist in any of the following areas;- education and training, marketing, finance, savings and credit, projects, accounts, governance or statistics. Specific duties and responsibilities
- Promoting co-operative societies; advising on co-operative investment; overseeing co-operative elections; analyzing data for policy formulation; developing and monitoring work plans for co-operative extension services; overseeing co-operative activities in several co-operative societies; evaluating cooperative activities and trends for promoting the co-operative movement; and enforcing compliance with co-operative legislation.
Requirement for Appointment:
Must have served in the grade of Chief Co-operative Officer for a minimum of three (3) years
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines;- Commerce, Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Sociology, Law, Agricultural Economics, Co-operative Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development, Finance or Agri-business from a recognized institution;
- Post Graduate Diploma in Cooperative Management for those without a Bachelor’s degree in Cooperative Management will be an added advantage;
- Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four(4) weeks from a recognized institution,
- Certificate in Computer applications from a recognized institution
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
- Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
Senior Legal Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: – Undertaking research on assigned legal issues; analyzing research data and compiling reports; preparing preliminary legal documents/instruments; and liaising with the Office of the County Attorney and advising on various legal policy issues.
Requirements for Appointment
- Served in a busy organization for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree from a recognized university;
- Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Demonstrated administrative and professional competence in work performance;
- Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
