Job Description

SMEP Microfinance Bank Limited is a public limited company incorporate under the companies Act (Cap 486) and licensed under the microfinance Act (Cap 493D) to offer banking, focusing on Group banking, Retail banking, Church banking, Asset financing, microfinance and related services.

Branch Manager

The successful candidates will be responsible for steering the Branch into high level performance through proper supervision, people management and enforcing a customer centric culture at the Branch.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Take the leadership role at the Branch and mentor the Branch staff towards the achievement of the Banks’ Mission, Vision and the Banks’ Strategic Objectives.
  • Ensure the Branch attains the set targets in the following parameters; High standards of Customer Service, Customer Retention, Deposits, Healthy Loan Portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain critical relationships at the Branch to enhance business Development
  • Enhance relationships with SME’s, High Net worth Individuals, Churches and Institutions to grow business.
  • Maintain a healthy balance of deposits portfolio on Church, SME, and Retail and Corporate deposits.
  • Implement strategies on penetration of business segments, markets and sectors.
  • Ensure growth of liabilities business including transactional, alternate and direct banking business.
  • Ensure staff productivity is maintained through support, mentorship, and TAT and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Working closely with risk and compliance units to ensure effective controls to mitigate against business risks associated with Business.

Key Qualities & Competencies

  • Minimum of 5 years banking experience; both in Banking Operations and Credit Management, 2 of which must have been in a supervisory or managerial position in a Micro Finance or Commercial Bank.
  • Experience in a Micro Finance Institution will be an added advantage

Senior Teller

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tellers, control movement of money from/to strong room and tellers and ensure tellers observe laid down policies and procedures in performing their duties.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Actively drive growth in customer numbers and ensure full adherence to the customer on-boarding Policies & Procedures.
  • Branch administration roles e.g. link person for service providers at the branch.
  • Drive customer service initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction and service delivery at the Branch are enhanced.
  • Daily  reconciliation  of  cash    (360  degrees  view)  and  submitting  daily  reports  of transactional volumes.
  • Monitor the bank safe/strong room, coordinate distribution on money to other tellers, and ensure the balances of all tellers tally at end of day.
  • Feed the transaction information into the bank database using various company owned tools and generate receipts for the customers.
  • Ensure matters related to Money Laundering and KYC are strongly embedded in the daily operations. These include account opening and reviews, transaction monitoring, reporting suspicions, implementing new requirements, acquire relevant knowledge and training, provide support to superior and subordinates.
  • Drive transaction volumes on alternative banking channels.
  • Review and ensure all revenue are collected as required and report any revenue leaks.
  • Drive account utilization by engaging customers to advice on available channels.
  • Ensure optimal staff productivity is maintained through support, mentorship, TAT and customer service.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive database of information on all existing relationships and prospective ones are kept.

Key Qualities & Competencies

  • A Degree or Diploma in a Business related area from a reputable institution; A professional  certification  in  accounting,  finance  or  economics  will  be  an  added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years Banking experience both in Banking Operations & Credit Management; with at Least 3 years experience as Teller or cashier in a financial institution will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to deliver results and meet customer expectations.
  • Good knowledge of Banking  and the various Banking products and services.
  • Well versed on Risk Management with analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Senior Credit Analyst

Responsible  for  ensuring  compliance  with  internal  Credit  Policies  and  Procedures  and facilitating prudent Credit Management of Credit Risks in line the CBK prudential guidelines. He /she shall safeguard the institution against loss by ensuring accuracy, completeness and credit worthiness of all the proposals for loan facilities and recommend appropriate risk mitigation mechanisms.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of credit risks through analysis and recommend approvals for facilities within the Institutions tolerable risk levels.
  • Ensure quality credit underwriting that maintains PAR of the portfolio within internal thresholds.
  • Performing quality assurance checks on revenue assurance and system surveillance on loan modules.
  • Ensure high turnaround time (TAT) for Credit proposals.
  • Ensure that all appraisal decisions meet the agreed SLA.
  • Ensure all disbursed consumer loans are forwarded to employers for booking and payments are collected/remitted in time.
  • Co-ordinate efforts together with Risk, Internal Audit, Credit Administration and Branches to ensure adherence to the Bank’s Credit Policy and lending guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Head of Credit and Head of Risk & compliance to maintain appropriate credit risk management culture.
  • Review loan security margins as per the existing market trends and advice the management on any necessary reviews.
  • Recommend  policy  reviews  for  customer  experience  improvement  and  risk    management improvement based on experiences and industry trends.
  • Performing quality assurance checks on revenue assurance and system surveillance on loan modules and report anomalies noted.
  • Recommend credit policy reviews in line with Market changes.
  • Monitoring developments in the Regulatory and operating market environment and propose changes to products and processes from time to time.
  • Able to train and mentor other staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE.
  • An undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant professional training in Credit management with advanced Knowledge on Credit risk assessment approaches and models.
  • Qualifications in accounting or Finance and knowledge are an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience a reputable Financial institution, in Credit appraising SME, Group, Individual Micro and consumer loans.
  • Statistical knowledge is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in computers is mandatory and knowledge or T24 Banking system will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to effectively analyze and interpret financial statements.
  • Clear understanding of microfinance/banking industry and Regulatory framework is an added advantage.
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills with excellent customer service.
  • Self-driven and possess the ability to work with minimum supervision
