Our client, one of the leading manufacturers of superior-quality chocolate and cocoa products is seeking to bring on board a Business Development Manager.

The role holder will be responsible for building the organization’s market position by locating, developing, negotiating and closing business as well as establishing and maintaining client relationship.

Business Development Manager Job Responsibilities

  • Pursue sales leads.
  • Visit existing and new customers in a bid of maintaining business and generating new business for the organization.
  • Assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products and services.
  • Respond to customer enquiries.
  • Negotiate prices and delivery times within limits of authority and conclude sales orders to meet revenue targets.
  • Identify, research, and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships that will generate future sales and repeat business.
  • Refer sales leads, customer feedback, and information on competitor activity to appropriate contacts within the organization so that they can respond to changing market conditions and customer demands.
  • Establish annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly sales plans and prioritize and schedule own activities so these targets are met.
  • Develop Chef to Chef relationships and engage in Chef associations to build brand awareness and usage opportunities.
  • Leverage Salesforce to track customer activities and manage opportunity pipelines.

Qualifications for the Business Development Manager Job

  • Bachelor’s Degree in food science or similar vocational education;
  • 2+ years of relevant working experience in food industry (B2B);
  • Minimum 5 years sales experience;
  • Sales Savvy/Business Development;
  • Strategic Thinking & Drive for Execution;
  • Commercial Acumen & Entrepreneurship;
  • Stakeholder Management;
  • Knowledge of Chocolate/Gourmet industry is an added advantage;
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office;
  • Good communication skills – must demonstrate an advanced level of both written & spoken English;
  • Good negotiation skills;
  • Proactivity, team player and demonstrated people development skills.
